EDIT 2: Closer to being done with the grey scale for this. I've been slacking. *headdesk* Sorry I haven't been working on this as much as I should be!
EDIT: Hair is pretty much done! Yay! *falls over dead* Unngh... So much left... And I haven't even gotten to color yet. ;^.^
Yet another thing I'm working on. I know I've got a lot of things in my "to do" folder that I need to actually finish, and I promise I'll get something done one of these days.
Meanwhile, here's just one of the things I'm doing at the moment. Working on trying to figure out contrast by doing this in grey scale before putting color on it. Hope you all like this so far!

Nice so far. 
The only thing about doing grayscale first, though, is that when you add color it will either be rigidly the same tone or lose the grayscale influence by coloring over it. I have been reading through tutorials on dA, and I found a nice one that recommends filling in your base and rough details first, then grayscaling the image and adding contrast where needed. Then move on to details. That same one also recommends flipping the image horizontally to make sure it's balanced. Just a few suggestions.
