Yes, I've had the same journal entry up for a little over a year. I generally don't have much to say- being the rather boring person I am- but I felt I should give you all something new to read. This, selfishly, is about a young woman who has been a great friend to me and will hopefully be a friend until we're both old and have either one foot in our graves or have seen what lies behind the curtains to find the gods at their games. Big words, but allow me my drama;
supremetechgoddess has influenced how I am today in ways I'll probably never fully discover, and most certainly for the better.
In the years since I've met her, I've found a love for ancient history that has rivaled the previous disdain I'd had for the subject. She's introduced me to tabletop role-playing games, British comedy, staying up until the sun rises, and a mess of people that gravitated towards us and quickly became a core a true Bothers and Sisters to me- even though we now live so far apart. Thinking back, I don't think I'd have nearly the confidence in myself or the world around me to post artwork on the internet or seek out the next big project.
In that time, she's written more than eight novel length stories, and has experienced the horror that can come with cheap vanity press publishing. I listened while she hashed out ideas for her epic worlds starting from her third book, and I've watched her ability to write sky-rocket despite her insistence it was never "good enough". She's even added a few ideas that I'd tried suggesting, just as she has with many of those she's met. When I got to know her, I decided I wanted to read those stories from beginning to end, never getting very far due to the realities that the world exists outside my bedroom before she'd dished out a new rendition of old things and some new things besides.
Finally, I've finished reading the first of her Chaos Realm novels: Immortals. I'll admit I'm biased when it comes to my friend, but her work is something that truly moves me. She's managed to bring everything I like in a book and make it flow effortlessly. Magic, wars, great heroes and great villains, epic fights. Legends come to life and finding that even they have something to lose. Insanity interwoven with reason and the passion to risk a little more for that faint spark of romance.
Don't sell yourself short, E'nara- you weave an amazing tale.
